Sheriff's Office helicopter assisting deputies on a call landed without power in a field near Highland City about 2:30 a.m. today.

The pilot and two flight observers were responding to a call to help southwest deputies with a suspicious vehicle when the helicopter experienced some sort of mechanical failure, the Sheriff's Office said. The pilot landed the helicopter without power; no one was injured.

The pilot and two flight observers were responding to a call to help southwest deputies with a suspicious vehicle when the helicopter experienced some sort of mechanical failure, the Sheriff's Office said. The pilot landed the helicopter without power; no one was injured.

Deputy Sheriff Brian Bolton made a hard landing in a field in the Highland City area at the end of Yarborough Lane near Crews Lake Drive, the Sheriff's Office said. The helicopter landed on its skids, and there appears to be minimal damage.

Others onboard were Deputies Mike Ison and Mike Ard.

An invesigation is underway.
